Here are two pictures of former S*T*A*R member Jonathan Hummel's excellent home-built scope on its equatorial platform with wheel out observing table. No construction notes available yet, but I thought this was neat enough to spark some good ideas. Jon says:
The table I have now is modeled after Chuck Shaw's. The center of gravity is better placed on the new one which is why I went after it in the first place, but I didn't see it until after we moved to Maryland and had a computer and a web connection of my own. With the size of the tube on my new scope I needed something more stable. I'm still debating whether or not to go with a split ring design.
I say I'd like to hear more about it!
